We feel very lucky here at Fanbrandz. We can hardly ride a train, walk down a street or open a sports publication without seeing some of our work being worn by a fan. It's gratifying and it keeps us trying harder with each new assignment.
Fanbrandz's roots began to grow in 1987, when Tom Froberg and I co-founded Frederick & Froberg Design Office in Montville, New Jersey. We started with a mix of work, including annual reports, brochures, paper promotions, catalogs and logos. I remember buying the tiny Mac Classic "just to play with" while we were still using our fancy drawing boards, rapidographs and huge racks of colored markers, and then sending out spec'd type to type houses for project completion.
Then, in 1989, we partnered with adidas USA to work on some of their B2B in-house catalogues. This turned out to be an amazing opportunity, and eventually led us to working deep within the professional sports industry for many years to date.
Since then, we have worked with MLB, NHL, NBA, NFL, MLS, WNBA, NASCAR, USTA and many more -- and over the course of these past 24 years, we have developed some real niche knowledge, working continuously for both brand owners and licensees. Our team understands dozens and dozens of reproduction techniques -- and challenges. And, over the past dozen years, we've worked with our clients to add digital, web and now, social media into our bag of tricks.
So the story goes, when creating style guides, we understand the why and what needs to be in there, from the brand owner's side to the licensee, team, agency, sponsor and partner sides. We're excited to continue writing our story one brand at a time.
