The Senators and Canadiens, two of the founding members of the NHL, met on the League's opening night on December 19, 1917. The NHL 100 Classic will be the culmination of the League's Centennial celebrations and coincides with Canada's 150th celebration, the Senators 25th anniversary, and the Stanley Cup's 125th birthday.

The Ottawa Senators and Montreal Canadiens closed a 100-year-old circle on December 16th when they met in the 2017 Scotiabank NHL 100 Classic in an outdoor game at Lansdowne Park.

In developing this program, we wanted to keep the clean metallic type featured in the main NHL 100 Anniversary logo and expand on it, so we pulled out the ribbons and silver rings from the mark and created our holding shape, adorning the top with the NHL Shield and Ottawa’s Peace Tower
